DEVO started their 2006 live performance tour on January 13th for 3 consecutive nights at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA. See the Canyon Club Show Report for details.
The tour report below starts with DEVO's shows in August, covers the shows in September/October, and ends with DEVO's show in Las Vegas on November 4th.
In an effort to make this report reflect the experiences of a variety of spuds, I've collected photographs and quotes from many devoted fans who have taken the time to send their memories, and will mix them within my own recollections and photos.
This report is the largest I've ever done, and there is quite a lot of content. Some shows are represented by more photos than others. To navigate the full-size photo pages from start to finish, be sure to start with the photo at the top left column of this page. Click the thumbnail, go to the full-size photo page, then click "Next" to go through all the photos in pretty much the order they happened. Enjoy! |

AUGUST 18th, 2006
DALLAS, TX - FAIR PARK BAND SHELL
DEVO's August 2006 shows were part of Dos Lunas Tequila's "Luna Si" promo tour, and also featured The Psychedelic Furs and When In Rome. DEVO hadn't performed live in Texas since their 80's tours, and had rarely played shows anywhere in the Southern USA since then. Their August 2006 shows were a real treat for Texas fans who had waited to see them for years.
The heat was incredible in Dallas. I remember it being over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during DEVO's live set at 10pm. I was amazed at how Mark, Jerry, Josh, and the Bobs were coping in those yellow radiation suits.

AUGUST 19th, 2006
HOUSTON, TX - RELIANT ARENA
The heat was still unbearable when we arrived in Houston, but we were very happy to be in an indoor venue with air-conditioning. I don't think I left the venue for most of the day and night. We met many devoted spuds from all over Texas and surrounding areas.
"Their concert was an astounding experience of music and showmanship. The band sounded as fresh and innovative today as they did twenty years ago, maybe more so now."
