Recon
(with locations in San Fran, Japan, and NYC) prides itself on a
deep interest & close connection to graffitti art, limited edition
toys, and hip-hop culture.
Colin Miller and partner Futura 2000 (old-school graffitti artist
extraordinaire) have gone to great lengths to import art, clothing,
and products which are nearly impossible to find elsewhere in the
US.
They decided that Mark's art, although not exactly true to their
standard format, was both interesting and provoking, and a good
fit for their clientele.
The opening reception was held on Friday, April 11th at 7pm, and
attracted a good mix of interested vistors. Artist K.R.K Ryden,
brother of artist Mark Ryden and an old friend of Mark, decided
to visit the show after he happened to hear about the opening earlier
that day. K.R.K created artwork for Devo's Brainwasher
fanzine back in the early 80's, and currently works for Last
Gasp publishing.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the opening! The show runs until
mid May 16th, so be sure to go check it out if you find yourself
in or near the SF area.
