Chicago's
West Loop Gallery District was packed on September 5th, when Mark
Mothersbaugh's Homefront Invasion! show opened at Aron Packer's
gallery.
Located in a renovated warehouse shared by several galleries, all
of which exhibited a wide range of interesting works, Aron's spacious
room looked great showcasing Mark's prints. The long walls meant
that 10 of Mark's two-toned style prints could be grouped together,
creating a powerful display.
Starting at about 6pm, the elevators and stairways were constantly
bustling with people eager to visit the various simutaneous receptions.
I'd never been to Chicago before, and was pleasantly surprised to
see such a huge turnout.
The show also featured the works of Miranda
Zimmer, who installed hundreds of her beautifully obsessive
rorshach-esque creations, and Cynthia
Plaster Caster, famous for her genital totems created with the
help of her musical idols, displayed some of her favorite "babies"
to curious visitors.
Thanks to Aron & Lisa for making this such a great show, and
being wonderfully gracious hosts. Thanks also to all the great art
fiends and Devo fans who attended the reception, and to all those
who have visited the show since.

gallery's official
